All you need to know about our Smart Hybrid Heating System

What is a Smart Hybrid Heating System?

B-Snug’s Smart Hybrid Heating System brings together renewable and conventional heating technologies to deliver a better solution for you the home owner, and includes:

·        Your existing oil/LPG boiler

·        A new Samsung Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP)

·        An Advanced Smart Control Service from PassivSystems

The Advanced Smart Control Service continuously evaluates and models the thermal characteristics of your home and interprets weather forecast data to optimise the heating strategy. This real time analysis coupled with your heat demand schedule ensures that the heating comes on to heat the home to the desired set point at all times and whatever the weather. The intelligent controls switch between the two heat sources automatically selecting the most appropriate fuel source to deliver warmth and comfort from the most cost efficient source.

Here's a simple diagram to show how it all works:

What is an air source heat pump?

In simple terms, an air source heat pump is like a fridge working in reverse. It absorbs naturally-occurring heat from the air outside (the same way a fridge extracts heat from its inside) and boosts it to a higher temperature using a heat pump.  This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems, or warm air convectors and hot water in your home.

Air source heat pumps can get heat from the air even at low temperatures and they only need a small amount of electricity to operate, making them one of the most efficient ways to heat your home.
