Dual Fuel Hybrid Heating System

What are the benefits compared to a pure heat pump?

An eligible dual fuel hybrid system:

Typically uses a smaller capacity heat pump unit and therefore costs less.

Installation is less disruptive because it is not necessary to change the radiators.

Removes the risk of an underperforming heating system in very cold weather.

Preserves existing investments (e.g. boiler, radiators, decorations).

Does not involve disconnecting an existing energy source making your system more resilient.

Samsung Air Source Heat Pump

Use efficient heat pump technology to deliver supreme comfort and low operating costs.

Air to water heat pump

Air to water heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air and transfer the heat to the water in your wet central heating system. Heat pumps work much more efficiently than a standard boiler system would (typically 400% more efficient) and operate at lower temperatures.

Suitable for property types

Broadly, properties suitable for B-Snug installation include the following:

  • if your home uses oil or LPG as the primary heating fuel
  • if you are using more than 1800 litres of oil or 2200 litres of LPG per year for your heating
  • if your home has loft and cavity wall insulation (where appropriate)
  • and you have a standard radiator heating system
  • and a broadband connection

Key features

A Smart Hybrid Heating System is the upgrade of an existing conventional fuel boiler to incorporate a new air source heat pump and a smart control that allows the automatic selection of the most appropriate fuel source to deliver warmth and comfort. The key features of the B-Snug system include

  • A Samsung Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP)
  • PassivLiving – an award-winning Advanced Smart Control Service from PassivSystems

Smart controls

The hybrid heating system comes with an advanced control system that decides whether to use your heat pump or your boiler based on your comfort settings and the weather outside. It learns how your home responds to heating in order to operate the system to maximise your cost savings. You set your requirements through the convenient smartphone app and let the system take care of delivering your comfort.

Equipment location

The air source heat pump is typically installed on the side or rear elevation of your home. We will not install a heat pump near a window that opens that is within one meter of a living room, bedroom, or your neighbours.

The installation process is quick and easy. After an initial survey to make sure your home is suitable, we will follow up with a proposal. Once you have confirmed you wish to proceed, a trusted local installer from our network will install the system over three days. The ASHP is fitted outside while inside we fit a room thermostat, a boiler controller and a small smart control box. Because we use smart controls, the system will continue to use your existing radiators so there’s no need to change them, reducing disruption and helping to keep costs to a minimum.

We will provide you with a full seven years parts and labour warranty for the Renewable Heating System. Any faults or breakdowns that occur with the supplied items under this proposal will be repaired or replaced by us at no cost to you. We will provide you with a two-year workmanship warranty (to cover workmanship or installation errors) that will be insurance-backed should we, or any MCS-certified installer we may have subcontracted, fall into receivership, administration or bankruptcy during the term of the workmanship warranty.
